The Crown of Patagonia

Torres del Paine National Park, located in Chilean Patagonia, is one of the world's most spectacular wilderness areas. The park is dominated by the three iconic granite towers (Torres del Paine) that rise dramatically from the Patagonian steppe, surrounded by glaciers, turquoise lakes, and windswept grasslands. The park offers some of the most challenging and rewarding trekking in South America.

Why It's Memorable:

  • The three granite towers, rising over 8,000 feet, are among the most photographed peaks in the world
  • The W Circuit and O Circuit, world-renowned multi-day treks through pristine wilderness
  • Grey Glacier, part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, the third largest ice field in the world
  • Home to guanacos, pumas, Andean condors, and the endangered huemul deer
  • The park's weather is notoriously unpredictable, with winds that can reach 100 mph
  • Lago Pehoé and Lago Grey, stunning turquoise lakes fed by glacial meltwater
  • A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, protecting one of the last remaining pristine wilderness areas
  • The park's dramatic landscapes have been shaped by millions of years of glacial activity
